SHORELINE YACHT CLUB HIGHLIGHTS THEIR SPOT ON THE MAP
LONG BEACH, CA --- On Sunday, July 10, Shoreline Yacht Club showed the yachting community that it deserves to be recognized as one of the premier yacht clubs in Southern California.
In one of the newest clubhouses in the world, the twenty-two year-old club held a reception for all of the organizers and participants of the Centennial Transpacific Yacht Race, as well as visiting dignitaries. All were met by smiling club members ready to assist with any request.
An internationally themed food array provided a diverse delight for the taste buds, and the bar was fully staffed with talented mix artists.
Long Beach Mayor Beverly O’Neil made a surprise appearance after an opening in her schedule allowed her to attend. She addressed all gathered there and expressed her delight at the hospitality and beautiful clubhouse. It was her first visit to the facility since its ribbon-cutting ceremony in 2003.
Over one hundred volunteers, headed by Commodore Gary Schneider, have been involved with the planning and hosting of the Transpac Village in Rainbow harbor. The Transpac has not had a send off port in the past, and the city of Long Beach extended an offer of a home port to incorporate it with its six-week Sea Festival.
Shoreline Yacht Club is the only club in the Downtown/Shoreline Marina, and gladly jumped at the chance to assist all of the racers culminating in the send-off reception.
One visitor to the club described the level of service provided by Shoreline the best. “I’ve never felt so welcome or met so many nice people at one time in one club. It is like I am an honored guest in somebody’s home.”
